At Castle School we combine a healthy balance for learning, both in and away from the classroom. Everything we do is aimed to inspire, motivate and challenge students whilst still allowing them to develop at their own pace.
Our outdoor school offers a truly exciting opportunity for our pupils to take their learning out of the traditional classroom.Located approximately three miles away, on the outskirts of Llawhaden, we have worked with outdoor specialists from Pembrokeshire National Park, the Darwin Centre, Pembrokeshire Outdoor Schools and other agencies to develop a very unique learning environment.
One day a week our prep children and their teaching staff visit Outdoor School, meet up with our outdoor specialist and conduct all their lessons in and around the outdoors. The centre has a purpose-built log cabin classroom, outdoor playground with mud kitchen, climbing frames, sandpit, etc, along with a sheltered area with log fire for stories and games. There are 5 acres of woodland, grassland, pond and stream in which to do experiments, test theories, put maths into practice, create poems, sing songs – the list is endless but one thing is for sure – this is learning at its best.Even the smallest of three year olds gets fully involved.
