The Basics -We introduce our youngsters to an exciting and interactive curriculum where they will be helped to develop enquiring minds and a thirst for knowledge.Whilst passionate about giving our pupils a broad range of extra-curricular opportunities, we are fully aware these youngsters need a solid foundation in core skills in preparation for their progression to the junior phase of their education (KS2). From 3 years children will engage in educational play where the emphasis is on fun, engaged learning.School should be a place for young children to explore and expand their world in an encouraging and dynamic environment that offers security yet challenges, opportunities yet safe boundaries.Learning should never become a chore. Almost every initiative, task or experience offers an opportunity to develop, consolidate or embed learning of core and key skills. We take these opportunities and help our children become confident, happy learners willing to engage and embrace their new and wider world.
Language -Language is something we are passionate about at Castle School.Pupils in our lower prep will find Spanish is an integral part of everyday learning in and out of the classroom. We believe that by exposing children to another language from an early age, when they are most receptive and least cautious, we can expand their academic, cultural and social horizons and give them a real start in life.
Art and PE -There are so many opportunities in the course of the school day for PE and for drawing and painting – one of our lower prep teachers is a games teacher so always keen to get our children up and out there.Equally, we have a fine art specialist who loves nothing more than getting out the pencils and paints.
ICT -Computer literacy is a must in this modern world so our prep takes advantage of the senior school facilities and uses our ICT suite of both laptops and PCs on a weekly basis.
